Enlighten is widely acknowledged as the most effective teeth whitening system in the world and has a 98% success rate. Enlighten Evolution Whitening is a combination treatment – a one-hour visit to our practice follows a two-week home treatment.
Enlighten works by increasing the tooth‘s permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules. The process can take some time so it’s important that you finish the treatment as directed by our staff.
Enlighten Whitening can whiten up to 16 shades. Results vary but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically. But remember that natural teeth rarely look bright white. Sometimes very white crowns can look unnatural because they are made of porcelain.
We assess your teeth at your first appointment. At that stage we can work out if teeth whitening is suitable and how successful it may be. We take photos and impressions of your teeth and your whitening trays will be ready in two weeks. Your Enlighten Whitening trays are thin and comfortable and must be worn in bed for 14 nights. On the 15th day you need to see us for the second treatment which takes 40 minutes.
It is completely safe. The materials used in Enlighten Whitening have been used in dentistry for more than 100 years. You may experience some sensitivity but you will receive a tube of Tooth Serum toothpaste while you wait for your trays. Once you begin whitening your teeth, you will also take home simple desensitising swabs which work immediately.
Results can last indefinitely with some very simple maintenance. Wearing the trays for one night every other month - and continuing to brush with Tooth Serum - will also prolong results.
You may whiten your teeth during this time but for the best results wait until your orthodontic treatment has been completed.
No. They’ll stay the same.
It is normal to experience temporary sensitivity during any form of tooth whitening. The Enlighten technique and whitening gels have been rigorously designed to keep this to a minimum. Sensitivity varies greatly from patient to patient and we will discuss the best approach as soon as you begin treatment.
No. There is no evidence to support this. Our orthodontists and hygienists have never seen any damage caused by Enlighten.
